Abstract

A 48 kDa outer membrane protein (omp48) of Aeromonas veronii exhibiting affinity for mucosal secretions (mucin, lactoferrin, immunoglobulins, or collagen), induced a statistically-significant immune response when given intragastrically to white New Zealand rabbits. Further studies showed a positive correlation between immunoglobulins and antibody-producing cells (APC).
